Indonesian Government May Use ePayment to Monitor Subsidised Fuel Consumption

Sept 17, 2013 (Tue): According to the deputy minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo, Indonesian government is finalising a new regulation that would make non-cash transactions of subsidised fuel eligible only by the use of a special card in the country, Business Times reported.

Susilo said that implementing electronic payment can help the government to collect additional detail on fuel consumption pattern as well as help to reduce consumption as vehicle owners who don’t deserve to be subsidised would be ashamed to request for the card.
