2 May 2024 – IBM has announced the global expansion of its software portfolio to 92 countries in AWS Marketplace, a platform with thousands of software listings from independent software vendors (ISVs). This expansion beyond the initial countries, including Denmark, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, aims to simplify procurement processes for clients, streamline purchasing, and create new efficiencies, allowing them to utilize their AWS committed spend for IBM software purchases.

Cloud marketplaces are emerging as the fastest-growing route to market for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) software, expected to reach US$45 billion by 2025, with an 84% CAGR over five years, according to a Canalys study. IBM’s availability on AWS Marketplace facilitates a quicker buying cycle, consolidated billing, and scalability of software deployments.

Uri Bechar, Vice President of Software Engineering at Redis, emphasized the ease and flexibility of purchasing IBM software in AWS Marketplace, stating that it streamlines the purchasing process and allows for faster deployment and realization of value from investments.

IBM’s expansion in AWS Marketplace provides clients with increased access to its artificial intelligence (AI) and data technologies, offering 44 listings and 29 SaaS offerings for purchase. Notable offerings include components of the Watsonx AI and Data platform, such as Watsonx.data and Watsonx.ai, as well as IBM’s AI Assistants Watsonx Assistant and Watsonx Orchestrate, with Watsonx.governance expected soon.

Matt Yanchyshyn, General Manager AWS Marketplace and Partner Services at AWS, highlighted the collaboration’s benefits, empowering customers with easier access to IBM’s solutions, accelerating digital transformation, and driving innovation at scale.

IBM’s portfolio includes flagship products like Db2 Cloud Pak for Data, automation software like Apptio, Turbonomic, and Instana, and security and sustainability software portfolios, all built on Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS. These cloud-native offerings enable deployment on AWS with flexible licensing options, including SaaS and subscription.

Additionally, IBM is launching 15 new IBM Consulting professional services and assets on AWS Marketplace, exclusively designed for AWS, focusing on data and application modernization, security services, and tailored industry-specific solutions.

Nick Otto, Head of Global Strategic Partnerships at IBM, highlighted the collaboration’s benefits for organizations worldwide, making it easier to procure IBM AI and hybrid cloud offerings to drive business forward and accelerate transformation journeys.
