Huawei-MDEC Go Global Accelerator Programme Launched to Propel Malaysia’s Tech Companies to International Success

Huawei Malaysia, in collaboration with MDEC, introduces the Huawei-MDEC Go Global Accelerator programme to support local technology companies in expanding globally, fostering digital skills, and driving digital exports. The initiative includes comprehensive support and an investment of up to US$5 million in Huawei Cloud credits. Finalists will receive grants, upskill, and access untapped markets through co-branding opportunities.


14 December 2023 – Huawei Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), has unveiled the Huawei-MDEC Go Global Accelerator programme. The initiative aims to support local technology companies in expanding their businesses globally, fostering digital skills, encouraging digital entrepreneurship, and driving digital exports.

Mahadhir Aziz, CEO of MDEC, emphasized the programme’s comprehensive support system, including global and regional technical expertise, a partner community, ecosystem connections, all facilitated by a dedicated operation team. The launch took place at the Huawei Cloud Malaysia Partner Connection 2023 held at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.

As part of the partnership, an investment of up to US$5 million (RM23.42 million) in Huawei Cloud credits has been secured for the entire duration of the programme in 2024. This underscores MDEC’s commitment to nurturing a sustainable digital nation and aligns with the agenda of Malaysia 5.0 to transform the country into a digitally driven, high-income nation that is inclusive, sustainable, and secure.

Finalists in the Go Global Accelerator Programme will have the opportunity to upskill, receive grants of up to US$50,000 in Huawei Cloud credits, form alliances, and access untapped markets through co-branding opportunities.

Simon Sun, CEO of Huawei Malaysia, expressed Huawei’s commitment to strengthening collaborations with dedicated organizations in Malaysia. The company aims to provide expertise and consulting services in cloud technology, fostering win-win partnerships.

In addition to its partnership with MDEC, Huawei Malaysia has collaborated with national telecommunications provider Telekom Malaysia Bhd to build a public cloud ensuring data sovereignty and locality. Sun highlighted the collaboration with Tune Protect Malaysia, where Tune Protect became the first insurer in Malaysia to host its insurance core system on Cloud Alpha Edge, marking a significant milestone in hosting an insurance core system on a public cloud in Malaysia. – ref: TheEdge
