MALAYSIA< 24 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Hong Kong financial services and property group TROOPS, Inc. (Nasdaq: TROO) has announced a strategic commitment of RM48.9 million (US$12 million) to build a new business unit focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure in Southeast Asia. The decision positions the company to capitalize on a regional surge that attracted over RM224.2 billion (US$55 billion) in investments over the past year.

Through a planned partnership with Texas-based Bfarms365 LLC, TROOPS intends to deliver a suite of specialized infrastructure solutions. These include GPU-as-a-Service, AI inference, edge computing, decentralized compute, cloud orchestration, and developer tools. The group is currently evaluating potential site acquisitions, partnerships, and assets across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, with an initial capital deployment of RM24.5 million (US$6 million) targeted by the end of 2026.

The expansion coincides with Southeast Asia’s rapid emergence as an AI and data hub for the Asia-Pacific region. Data center capacity in Johor, Malaysia alone doubled over a twelve-month period, highlighted by figures from the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Summit. Major regional players are scaling up compute footprints, including Singtel expanding its Nxera platform, SK Telecom securing RM8.97 billion (US$2.2 billion) via KKR and IMM-Stonebridge for its AI data center platform, and Reliance Jio building out new campuses.

Damian Thurnheer, President and CEO of TROOPS, Inc., stated that Southeast Asia has become the core region where Asia’s compute capacity is being constructed, noting that capital inflows are increasingly global. He added that moving into this layer represents a natural progression for the group, which previously pioneered fintech capabilities within its core financial portfolio.

TROOPS operates a diversified business model anchored by licensed money lenders, commercial property investments, an insurance consultancy, and an online financial technology marketplace in Hong Kong. For the year ending December 31, 2025, the group reported a 70% revenue increase to RM69.7 million (US$17.1 million).

The conglomerate also holds a 19.9% stake in HK Golden, Inc., operator of one of Hong Kong’s prominent online discussion platforms.Tommy Wing Ling Lui, Chief Technology Officer of TROOPS, Inc., emphasized that owning infrastructure capacity directly transforms what the company can develop, creating strong synergy with existing operations that already utilize machine learning inside credit underwriting and servicing models.TROOPS confirmed it will publish further updates and SEC filings as definitive operational agreements are established.
