The event facilitated over 300 business matching meetings and the signing of 10 MoUs to accelerate cross-border investment and trade opportunities across ASEAN and China.

MALAYSIA, 12 AUGUST 2026 – The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) hosted its flagship overseas promotion, Think Business, Think Hong Kong (TBTHK), in Kuala Lumpur to foster deeper commercial ties between Malaysian and Hong Kong enterprises. The event convened around 1,600 business leaders, investors, founders, and government officials for a comprehensive day of strategic dialogue, networking, and direct consultations.

Marking a historic high, the Hong Kong delegation featured over 200 government representatives, entrepreneurs, and professional service providers. To help Malaysian companies expand globally and enter the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the broader Chinese market, organizers facilitated more than 300 tailored business matching sessions and oversaw the execution of 10 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

The symposium was officiated by HKTDC Chairman Prof Frederick Ma, Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau, and Malaysia’s Minister of Transport Loke Siew Fook. Leaders highlighted how Hong Kong’s financial, logistics, and arbitration services complement Malaysia’s expanding exports in electronics and high-value manufacturing, creating a resilient corridor for regional growth.

Key thematic discussions throughout the day explored Renminbi trade settlement opportunities, green finance, climate technology, expansion strategies to mitigate geopolitical risks, and global growth pathways for life and health technology.

Alongside the plenary sessions, the symposium hosted an exhibition featuring 30 Hong Kong service providers and startups showcasing innovative solutions in the Business Support Zone and InnoVenture Salon. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the Hong Kong SAR Government to empower enterprises in entering emerging ASEAN markets while attracting international investment.
