Himalaya and SAP Join Forces to Drive Sustainability with Cutting-Edge Solutions

Himalaya has partnered with SAP to advance its sustainability goals through innovative solutions, including SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, enabling product-level carbon accounting and enhanced operational efficiency. The collaboration highlights the integration of financial and sustainability data to future-proof Himalaya’s global operations.


6 December 2024 – SAP SE has announced a strategic partnership with Himalaya, a global leader in herbal health and personal care, to leverage SAP’s innovative technologies for achieving its sustainability objectives. Himalaya, with over 500 products sold in more than 100 countries, is embarking on its RISE with SAP journey, integrating solutions like SAP Sustainability Footprint Management and SAP EHS Environment Management to enhance sustainable practices.

Ananth Narayan Narasimhan, CIO of Himalaya, emphasized the brand’s deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, stating, “What is good for Mother Earth is good for our customers—and good for Himalaya.” The company aims to utilize SAP’s solutions to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and achieve precise sustainability metrics at every stage of the product lifecycle.

The partnership focuses on product-level carbon accounting, enabling Himalaya to calculate the carbon footprint of individual SKUs from cradle to grave. This granular approach will optimize the supply chain, manage resources like power and water, and track waste management, enhancing the company’s sustainability index across activities.

Himalaya also leverages other SAP technologies, including SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, and SAP Analytics Cloud, for a holistic operational transformation. The integration allows for data visibility at a detailed, component-wise level, offering valuable insights into packaging materials, recyclability, and carbon impact for each product SKU.

Susanna Hasenoehrl, Head of Sustainability at SAP Asia Pacific, highlighted the importance of aligning financial and sustainability data for informed decision-making, adding, “Himalaya is future-proofing its business to optimize supply chains and differentiate itself in a competitive market.”

This collaboration underscores Himalaya’s leadership in sustainability and positions SAP as a key enabler of global business transformation through innovative technology.
