MALAYSIA: According to Gartner Inc. (Gartner), a global information technology research and advisory company, the global public cloud services market is forecast to grow 18.5 percent to US$131 billion (RM405.12 billion) in 2013, compared with US$111 billion (RM343.25 billion) last year.
In 2012, cloud advertising was the largest segment of the cloud services market with 48 percent of total market share, followed by cloud business process services segment (BPaaS) at 28 percent, cloud application services (software as a service [SaaS]) at 14.7 percent, cloud system infrastructure services (IaaS) at 5.5 percent, cloud management and security services at 2.8 percent, and cloud application infrastructure services (platform as a service [PaaS]) at 1 percent.
Gartner said cloud advertising continues to be the largest segment until 2016. Gartner predicts that from 2013 through 2016, US$677 billion (RM2.09 trillion) will be spent on cloud services worldwide, US$310 billion (RM0.96 trillion) of which will be spent on cloud advertising. IaaS will be the fastest-growing segment in 2013, at the growth rate of 47.3 percent.
