A global study by Kaspersky highlights cybersecurity professionals’ concerns about the relevance of formal education amidst a severe skills shortage, prompting calls for further training to address evolving threats.
19 February 2024 – In a recent global study commissioned by Kaspersky, cybersecurity professionals have expressed doubts about the effectiveness of their formal education amidst a severe shortage of skilled professionals in the field. The research reveals that half of the surveyed experts feel their academic training has not adequately equipped them for the demands of their roles, prompting a need for further training to address evolving cybersecurity threats.
The study also sheds light on regional disparities in cybersecurity education quality, with the META region scoring the lowest and LATAM the highest. To address these challenges, Kaspersky recommends a comprehensive approach, including upgrading university curriculums, providing real-life job experiences through internships, participating in international competitions, and pursuing continuous learning through additional training courses and certifications.
