Wed, May 29, 2013: According to a report published by Ecommerce Europe, the European online revenue of goods and services grew by 19% to reach €311.6 billion (RM1.2 trillion) last year and 61 per cent of it was contributed by 3 main countries – the UK, Germany and France. The association estimated that the number of B2C websites have grown to 550,000 at the end of 2012, growing at a pace of 15 to 20 per cent per year.
The rapid growth of e-commerce in Europe has made Europe overtook the USA, as the biggest B2C e-commerce market in the world. In 2012, North America, including the USA and Canada, had a €294.2 billion (RM1.15 trillion) turnover with 33.1 per cent market share followed by Asia-Pacific (€227.8 billion), Latin America (€42.1 billion) and the MENA countries (€10.8 billion). Ecommerce Europe estimates the total global e-commerce market at €889 billion.
