21 February 2024 – In a bid to foster innovation among developers, Google has introduced its latest line of artificial intelligence (AI) models, named Gemma, following a similar move by Meta Platforms and others. While offering technical data freely to individuals and businesses, Google maintains control over Gemma’s usage terms and ownership, positioning the release as a strategic move to bolster its profitable cloud division and attract new users with $300 in credits for first-time cloud customers.
The Gemma models, optimized for Google Cloud, come in sizes of two billion or seven billion parameters, providing developers with a platform to harness AI technology for diverse applications.
