Dyson has launched the Supersonic Travel hair dryer in Malaysia, offering travellers a compact, lightweight styling tool that retains the full performance and hair-health technology of its full-sized counterpart. Priced at RM1,399, the device is now available at Dyson stores and online at the Dyson Malaysia website.

MALAYSIA, 19 JUNE 2026 – For anyone who has ever wrestled with a flimsy hotel hair dryer or reluctantly left their Dyson at home to save luggage space, the wait is over. Dyson has officially launched the Supersonic Travel hair dryer in Malaysia, a precision-engineered compact device built for the demands of modern travel without asking users to trade down on performance or hair health.

The numbers tell part of the story. The new dryer is 32% smaller and 25% lighter than the original full-sized Supersonic, tipping the scales at less than the weight of a standard 500ml bottle of water. It slips easily into a handbag, carry-on, or cabin luggage — and unlike most travel-sized alternatives that force a choice between portability and results, Dyson insists this one delivers both.

Founder and Chief Engineer James Dyson was characteristically direct about the engineering philosophy behind it. The device was not simply a scaled-down version of an existing product, he said, but a complete re-engineering for the realities of life on the move — built for performance, portability, and hair health in equal measure.

At the core of that promise is Dyson’s intelligent heat control technology, which measures airflow temperature 100 times per second to prevent the kind of extreme heat exposure that degrades keratin, weakens the hair shaft, and leads to breakage over time. The airflow itself is precisely calibrated to dry hair quickly and evenly, leaving hair healthy and glossy rather than frizzy and fatigued — outcomes that matter whether the backdrop is a gym locker room, a weekend getaway, or a long-haul business trip.

Global voltage compatibility means the dryer adapts automatically to local power supplies across different countries, maintaining full machine performance wherever the user lands. For those already within the Dyson ecosystem, the device also offers something no other travel hair dryer on the market currently provides — attachment sharing compatibility with the existing Supersonic and Supersonic Nural, allowing users to bring along their preferred styling tools without packing duplicates.

Dyson’s journey in hair science stretches back to the 2016 launch of the original Supersonic, which relocated the motor to the handle for better balance and set a new standard for heat-controlled drying. That was followed by the Airwrap, the Corrale, the Airstrait, and most recently the Supersonic Nural — a home styling companion with a dedicated Scalp Protect Mode designed to safeguard follicle health and new hair growth. The Supersonic Travel represents the latest chapter in that decade-long commitment to applying engineering rigour to everyday hair care.

Dyson Global Styling Ambassador Irinel de Leon pointed to a growing appetite among travellers for low-maintenance, high-impact styles — the kind that look deliberate but require minimal effort. The Supersonic Travel, she said, is built precisely for that moment: capable of lifting roots, smoothing ends, and delivering maximum shine whether the destination brings humid tropical air or the drying conditions of a pressurised aircraft cabin.

The Dyson Supersonic Travel hair dryer is now available in Malaysia at a retail price of RM1,399 through Dyson stores and the Dyson Malaysia website. Updates on the latest Dyson technology can be followed via Dyson Malaysia’s Instagram and Facebook channels.
