Malaysian launderette brand dobiQueen has launched a three-month CSR initiative to provide free laundry services to 30 underserved homes across Klang Valley. The programme aims to support orphanages, special needs children, and women while promoting dignity, hygiene, and social empowerment.

MALAYSIA, 12 MARCH 2026 – In Malaysia, thousands of children continue to grow up in care institutions due to poverty, family challenges, social stigma, and the difficulties of caring for children with illnesses or disabilities. Studies indicate that up to 87 per cent of these children have at least one living parent, with an estimated 64,000 currently residing in both registered and unregistered childcare homes nationwide.

While these institutions provide essential needs such as shelter, food, and education, many children still lack the emotional support and sense of belonging typically found within a family environment.

In response, Malaysian launderette brand dobiQueen has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at supporting underserved communities in the Klang Valley. The programme will provide free laundry services for three months to 30 homes, focusing on orphanages, special needs children, and women from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds.

The initiative is being introduced during the Ramadan period and in conjunction with International Women’s Day, reflecting the values of compassion, generosity, and community upliftment.

According to Nini Tan, Co-founder and Executive Director of dobiQueen, the initiative represents the company’s long-standing commitment to creating meaningful social impact beyond its core business.

She explained that the company’s mission is to reduce the burden of household chores by providing accessible and quality laundry services, allowing individuals and families to spend more time on their well-being and relationships. By ensuring access to clean clothing and bedding, the programme also aims to support hygiene, health, and dignity within underserved communities.

The initiative also highlights broader social challenges surrounding unpaid care work in Malaysia. Data from Khazanah Research Institute indicates that Malaysian women carry a significantly larger share of unpaid caregiving responsibilities compared to men, even while spending similar hours in paid employment.

These responsibilities, which include cooking, cleaning, and childcare, can be physically demanding and time-sensitive. In 2023, 62.1 per cent of women outside the labour force cited housework as the primary reason for not seeking employment.

Supporting efforts to address these challenges, Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inclusive support systems that enable women to balance work and caregiving responsibilities.

Edward Ling, Group CEO of TalentCorp, highlighted that empowering women involves recognising the real-life pressures they face when managing both family and career commitments.

He noted that building a more inclusive ecosystem requires collaboration between government agencies, industry players, and community partners to reduce daily burdens and create opportunities for women to participate more confidently in the workforce.

Malaysia aims to increase female labour force participation to 60 per cent by 2033, making such collaborations increasingly important.

TalentCorp’s Women Programmes department plays a key role in advancing this goal by promoting initiatives that enhance women’s socio-economic participation and contribute to national economic growth. Through its Wanita MyWira programme, TalentCorp works with industry partners to strengthen return-to-work pathways and promote flexible workplace practices.

Beyond this latest CSR initiative, dobiQueen has also collaborated with several organisations focused on community development and women’s empowerment, including Dignity for Children Foundation, Kintry, PichaEats, Komuniti Tukang Jahit, and The Asli Co. These partnerships have supported single mothers, refugee women, and individuals from the B40 income group in developing skills and generating income.

The company also prioritises hiring single parents and individuals from lower-income communities, offering stable employment and long-term support.

Most recently, dobiQueen introduced its Single Parent Welfare Support programme, which provides high-performing single-parent employees with monthly incentives of up to RM500. The initiative aims to strengthen workforce inclusion while continuing the company’s broader mission of empowering women and supporting underserved communities.
