Rebecca PY MALAYSIA, 30 JULY 2026 – Dell Technologies and Nutanix have unveiled a new integration that brings Dell PowerStore support to the Nutanix Cloud Platform, running on NCI 7.6. The move is designed to give organizations enterprise-level storage performance within their Nutanix environments, without sacrificing the operational simplicity that drew them to the platform in the first place.
With this update, PowerStore delivers end-to-end NVMe all-flash performance and independent scaling of compute and storage resources on the Nutanix AHV hypervisor. Notably, PowerStore integrates directly into Prism, meaning IT teams do not need to learn new tools or undergo additional training to manage it. Dell Private Cloud rounds out the offering with automated deployment, full-stack lifecycle management, and Dell’s system-level hardware support.
This integration makes PowerStore the second Dell storage platform to link up with Nutanix, following PowerFlex, which was the first external storage solution supported on Nutanix Cloud Platform. Combined with Dell Private Cloud’s automated lifecycle management and hardware support, businesses now have a validated infrastructure foundation for running Nutanix alongside enterprise-grade external storage.
Key capabilities of the integration include:End-to-end NVMe all-flash performance, offering consistent low-latency storage for critical databases, enterprise applications, and data-heavy analytics, all without consuming compute resources for storage data services.
Independent compute and storage scalability, allowing organizations using Dell Private Cloud to add PowerEdge compute nodes or expand PowerStore capacity separately, based on real workload needs. PowerStore’s Dynamic Resiliency Engine also allows storage to scale one drive at a time.
Transparent Prism integration, where provisioning, snapshots, clones, and virtual disk expan
sion are all managed directly through Prism, letting existing Nutanix skill sets apply immediately.
A guaranteed 6:1 data reduction ratio, powered by always-on deduplication and compression, helping organizations consolidate workloads while cutting storage costs.
Versatile cyber resilience, spanning asynchronous replication to Metro synchronous replication with zero RPO and zero RTO, with protection policies managed from Prism and remote backups handled through Dell PowerProtect Data Manager for long-term retention and cloud archival.
Dell Private Cloud serves as the platform’s backbone, automating AHV deployment through validated blueprints, managing the technology lifecycle, and backing the entire stack with Dell’s hardware support. The result is a system that offers appliance-like simplicity on disaggregated infrastructure, while still giving organizations the flexibility to run either PowerStore or PowerFlex on a single Dell foundation.
In a recent Technical First Look report, analyst firm Omdia validated the integration, finding that Dell Private Cloud allows organizations to deploy workload-ready clusters in roughly 2.5 hours with no manual intervention required after hardware installation, cutting deployment steps by more than 90 percent compared to manual methods.
Helder Queiros, Senior Director of OEM and Alliances for APJ at Nutanix, noted that customers across the region are seeking infrastructure that balances flexibility and simplicity without sacrificing performance. He explained that bringing PowerStore to the Nutanix Cloud Platform allows organizations to tap into enterprise-grade storage while scaling compute and storage independently, all while continuing to use the familiar Prism toolset. He added that this development reflects how Dell and Nutanix continue to give customers greater choice and control over their IT strategies.
The PowerStore integration marks the latest milestone in a 14-year partnership between Dell and Nutanix. With this addition, Dell now offers one of the broadest infrastructure portfolios available for Nutanix environments, covering private cloud deployments, disaggregated architecture, and extended data protection capabilities. The companies describe this as a step toward greater infrastructure freedom, giving organizations the flexibility to select the right platform for each workload while managing it through familiar tools.
