The Singapore-headquartered company revealed its plans during the Tech & AI Career Expo Kuala Lumpur 2026, held with the support of agencies such as Malaysian Investment Development Authority, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, Social Security Organisation, and TalentCorp Malaysia.
As part of its expansion strategy, DayOne aims to make Malaysia its largest global operational footprint, accounting for more than half of its total workforce growth in 2026. Meanwhile, its Regional Operations and Training Hub in Johor will play a pivotal role in developing AI-ready infrastructure capabilities, including the training of more than 1,000 data center engineers.
In parallel, DayOne introduced two new talent development programs focused on internships and graduate pathways, designed to equip young professionals with hands-on experience and fast-track career opportunities in digital infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, CEO Jamie Khoo emphasized Malaysia’s strategic importance, highlighting the company’s commitment beyond infrastructure to include talent cultivation and ecosystem development across the SIJORI growth corridor.
A video address by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi underscored the importance of collaboration between government, industry, and academia in building a globally competitive workforce and sustainable digital economy.
The inaugural Tech & AI Career Expo attracted over 1,000 participants, 30 companies, and representatives from 13 universities, including University of Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
