MYANMAR: China Union Pay (CUP) card holders now can make payments at Myanmar Payment Union (MPU) member banks’ points-of-sale as well as withdraw Myanmar Kyat currency from the automatic tellers machines (ATM) after the launch of CUP card services in Myanmar by U Than Nyein, the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar.
MPU was established in September 2011 by 17 domestic banks in Myanmar including three state-owned banks and 14 private banks. Today, there are 198 ATMs and 465 points-of-sale deployed among the MPU member banks network.
