MALAYSIA, 3 NOVEMBER 2026 – Global enterprise and sovereign artificial intelligence firm Cohere has launched a specialized Defence AI Accelerator in Singapore, establishing a regional operational hub for defence and national security digital transformation. The center is engineered to help defence entities, government bodies, and regulated institutions rapidly advance AI initiatives from preliminary proof-of-concept stages to production-grade deployment within strictly defended perimeters.
Unlike standard technology showcases, the accelerator focuses on direct technical execution. Sovereign customers will receive engineering advisory, hands-on development assistance, and architectural guidance to trial Cohere models and its proprietary agentic AI platform, North, in real-world conditions before integrating them into active operational infrastructure.
The launch forms an integral component of Cohere broader expansion strategy across the Asia-Pacific region, which aims to quadruple its operational footprint by the end of 2027 through strategic capital investments, localized alliances, and new corporate offices. The Singapore hub will reinforce public sector engagement and expand sovereign AI adoption for agencies requiring the highest thresholds of data governance, security, and algorithmic transparency.
Andrew Chang, Vice President of APAC at Cohere, explained that regional governments and commercial enterprises are increasingly moving past preliminary tests and seeking dependable partners to roll out agentic AI systems in secure environments. He added that the accelerator combines Cohere sovereign technology architecture with deep engineering advisory to ensure client systems meet rigorous criteria for data security, operational reliability, and institutional compliance.
A core advantage of the platform is architectural autonomy, enabling sovereign users to retain complete dominion over proprietary data and computational frameworks. Cohere provides full support for on-premises, hybrid, and strictly air-gapped environments tailored to high-stakes, mission-critical settings. The North platform powering the accelerator has already proven its operational resilience through implementations across regulated institutions in Singapore.
Participating organizations will gain structured access to Cohere engineering personnel to validate sensitive workloads, integration workflows for legacy digital systems, and comprehensive administrative controls for responsible model management.
The rollout aligns with a rapid regional pivot toward digital autonomy. Market research firm IDC projects that 80 percent of enterprises across the Asia-Pacific territory will prioritize AI sovereignty for mission-critical operations, positioning sovereign AI capabilities as the second-largest investment focus among regional governments.
