CendekiAwan Malaysia has trained over 13,000 students in generative AI, showcasing 227 real-world applications built using AWS tools. The programme highlights Malaysia’s efforts to bridge academia and industry in building a future-ready digital workforce.
MALAYSIA, 21 APRIL 2026 – Malaysia’s push to build a future-ready digital workforce gained momentum as the CendekiAwan Malaysia programme, led by Elitery in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), marked a major milestone with its closing event, showcasing student innovations in generative AI.
Since its launch in November 2025, the initiative has engaged more than 13,000 students across six universities, including Universiti Malaya and Universiti Teknologi MARA, equipping them with hands-on experience in cloud and AI technologies. A key component of the programme was the use of AWS PartyRock, a no-code platform that enabled participants to develop 227 functional applications using natural language prompts.
The programme concluded with a high-energy event on April 20, 2026, celebrating top student innovators whose projects addressed real-world challenges across sectors such as digital health, financial literacy, education, and sustainability. Among the standout solutions was Isihat+, a health-focused application designed to optimise daily routines through data-driven insights, alongside CashSmart Campus, which helps students better manage personal finances.
According to Hussein Mohd Ali, early exposure to generative AI tools plays a crucial role in shaping future talent, enabling students to experiment, innovate, and build impactful solutions. Meanwhile, Kresna Adiprawira highlighted the programme’s broader impact in bridging academia and industry, positioning students to contribute to regional digital transformation.
As the programme continues through 2026, CendekiAwan Malaysia reflects a growing emphasis on practical, industry-aligned education, reinforcing Malaysia’s ambition to strengthen its digital talent pipeline and remain competitive in the evolving AI-driven economy.
