MALAYSIA, 13 AUGUST 2026 – CelcomDigi Berhad has successfully expanded its MY5G SME Digital Workshop series into the Northern region, continuing a nationwide initiative aimed at accelerating digital adoption among local small and medium enterprises. Currently in its fourth year, the programme has reached over 3,000 local entrepreneurs, offering them hands-on skills and actionable strategies to thrive in a competitive digital economy.

The Northern leg of the workshop kicked off with participation from more than 300 business owners across 14 strategic locations in Malaysia. Designed to cater to different stages of business growth, the workshop delivers specialized modules ranging from online presence building for early-stage setups to operational tech integration for established companies.

Supported by prominent ecosystem partners such as Funding Societies Malaysia, Swipey, CTOS Data Systems, SME Corp Malaysia, SAMENTA, Digital Penang, and TikTok Shop Malaysia, the event bridges the gap between technology providers and local businesses. Beyond classroom learning, the Skuad 5G Edisi SME team conducted direct market visits to locations like Pasar Awam Bagan Ajam and Pasar Awam Sri Muda, engaging with over 110 merchant owners to better understand everyday operational hurdles.

Local participants, including the founders of Dapur Bakar Ayam Goreng Kunyit, shared how the workshop provided immediate, actionable insights into content creation and social commerce. After starting from a modest three-wheel cart in Penang, their business has expanded to 13 outlets nationwide while utilizing CelcomDigi Business Postpaid and Fibre connectivity for seamless operations.Speaking on the initiative, CelcomDigi Chief Enterprise Business Officer T Kugan highlighted that small businesses require practical, uncluttered solutions rather than complex systems. He noted that direct market visits help make digital tools accessible, relevant, and directly applicable to the daily realities of Malaysian entrepreneurs.
