CelcomDigi has completed a large-scale 4G and LTE connectivity deployment across IOI Corporation’s plantation estates nationwide, enabling automation, data-driven operations, and digital transformation. The initiative also extends reliable connectivity to surrounding rural communities, supporting inclusive socioeconomic growth.
MALAYSIA, 16 JANUARY 2026 – CelcomDigi Berhad has successfully completed a large-scale connectivity and tower infrastructure deployment across IOI Corporation Berhad’s plantation estates in Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia, marking a major milestone in modernising plantation operations and expanding rural digital access.
The deployment includes more than 100 4G and 4G LTE network sites across over 100 IOI estates nationwide, complemented by dedicated Direct Internet Access connections for estate offices. This end-to-end connectivity solution lays the foundation for IOI to digitalise core plantation activities, from automated mill operations and mobile workforce management to IoT-enabled fleet and asset monitoring.
With high-speed connectivity now in place, IOI can progressively integrate intelligent systems to improve productivity, operational visibility, and workplace safety. The network also supports future data-driven use cases that are increasingly essential to sustainable and scalable plantation management.
Beyond operational benefits, the enhanced connectivity extends to nearby rural communities, improving access to education, healthcare, and essential digital services. By strengthening digital inclusion, the initiative supports broader socioeconomic development and enables more communities to participate in Malaysia’s digital economy.
CelcomDigi said consistent, estate-wide connectivity is a critical enabler for modern agriculture, allowing organisations to integrate systems and data into efficient, scalable workflows. Early adopters in the plantation sector have reported measurable gains in productivity and faster digital adoption through connected operations.
IOI noted that the collaboration supports its long-term ambition to transform its plantations into integrated, connected operations that can compete on productivity and sustainability. By leveraging nationwide connectivity as a digital foundation, the group aims to scale automation, deploy smart fleet and asset management, and enhance data-led decision-making across its estates.
The project reflects CelcomDigi’s broader commitment to building Malaysia’s digital infrastructure and supporting enterprise digitalisation through next-generation connectivity, as part of its ambition to help businesses thrive in the country’s evolving digital economy.
