Serving as the successor to the popular EOS R8, the new camera supports Coordinated Control IS alongside an array of new creative functions, user interfaces, and advanced controls adapted from higher-end models in the Canon EOS R series, all enclosed within a sleek, modern body.

By combining full-frame performance with intuitive features in a robust body, Canon aims to give photographers and content creators the freedom to bring their ideas to life and continue pushing their creative boundaries.
Redefining Portability and Ergonomic Design
Offering a contemporary reinterpretation of Canon’s iconic pentaprism form, the EOS R8 Mark II blends sleek linearity with soft curves. Measuring approximately 131.4 x 90.0 x 79.7mm and weighing roughly 546g, it stands as Canon’s smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera equipped with In-Body IS, ensuring effortless portability without sacrificing grip comfort.
It is also the first EOS R series full-frame camera in its class to incorporate a multi-controller joystick for intuitive autofocus control while looking through the viewfinder. For creators seeking an even firmer hold, the optional Extension Grip EG-E2 attaches easily via a simple dial turn while maintaining complete access to tripod mounts and battery compartments.
Expanded Imaging and Stabilization Capabilities
The full-frame CMOS sensor offers approximately 2.5 times the light-gathering surface of an APS-C sensor, delivering enhanced low-light performance, richer image detail, and reduced noise. The larger sensor also provides a wider field of view for ultra-wide-angle photography and natural background bokeh.
To combat camera shake during slow shutter speed shoots, the built-in 5-axis In-Body IS pairs with RF lenses featuring optical stabilization. This Coordinated Control IS system achieves an image stabilization effect equivalent to up to 7.5 stops at the center and 7.0 stops at the edges. Additionally, creators can capture high-speed action using Dual Pixel CMOS AF II combined with Pre-Continuous Shooting at up to 40 fps on the electronic shutter, supported by Register People Priority mode to track specific individuals in crowded settings.
Built-in Creative Effects and Advanced Video Features
The EOS R8 Mark II introduces built-in color filters such as NegativeFilmtone and PositiveFilmtone, alongside Handheld Night Scene Mode color options including Blue, Black & Orange, Pink, and Green, allowing users to apply distinct aesthetics straight out of the camera. Interval timer functions have also been upgraded with exposure smoothing and delayed start settings for seamless time-lapse movies.
Beginners and professionals alike can utilize the Creative AUTO mode and expanded Background Blur Creative Assist interface in movie mode. For video production, the camera shoots high-quality 6K-oversampled 4K 60p video, Full HD up to 180p, and supports Canon Log 3 alongside Custom LUTs. Livestreaming is streamlined across four wired and wireless setup options, including multi-angle streaming via the Live Switcher Mobile app.
The camera further expands into spatial media with compatibility for full-frame and APS-C VR lenses, featuring VR Clear Mode to enhance contrast on VR goggles. Still photos can also be converted into high-quality 3D models using the new Dual Pixel 3D Converter software.
Accompanying Accessories
Alongside the main body, Canon announced three complementary accessories: the Extension Grip EG-E2, the Tripod Grip HG-1000TBR bundled with the BR-E2 Bluetooth Remote Controller, and the updated Speedlite EL-5 (Ver. 2), which expands wireless communication range to approximately 50 meters.
