Broadcom Unveils Advanced Solutions to Boost Edge AI Workloads with Enhanced Connectivity and Management

Broadcom has introduced significant enhancements to its Software-Defined Edge portfolio, including new connectivity and lifecycle management features to better support Edge AI workloads. These updates aim to streamline edge deployments and improve performance and security for enterprises.


28 August 2024 – Broadcom Inc., following its acquisition of VMware, has announced significant advancements in its Software-Defined Edge product portfolio. These developments are designed to support Edge AI workloads by enhancing connectivity, deployment, and lifecycle management capabilities.

Key enhancements include the integration of Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and satellite connections within the VMware VeloCloud Edge 710 appliance, alongside the introduction of the new VMware VeloCloud Edge 720 and 740 appliances. These upgrades aim to deliver improved real-time voice, video, and application traffic, ensuring robust and consistent connectivity at the edge.

Broadcom has also announced the integration of VeloCloud SD-WAN points of presence (PoPs) with Symantec PoPs, a move that will automate cloud access while maintaining performance and security. This integration will benefit customers by providing higher bandwidth, lower latency, and greater global reach to major cloud and SaaS providers.

Additionally, VMware Edge Compute Stack has received enhancements aimed at simplifying the deployment and lifecycle management of Edge AI workloads. New features include zero-touch orchestration, pull-based architecture, and edge infrastructure monitoring, which together streamline the management of edge devices, applications, and infrastructure across multiple sites.
