SINGAPORE, 17 JULY 2026 – Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) and Standard Chartered have unveiled a long-term strategic commitment aimed at accelerating the modernization of the bank’s global infrastructure. The collaboration will establish a secure and resilient private cloud foundation designed to seamlessly support critical banking services across the bank’s 54 global markets.
As a major international bank, Standard Chartered requires infrastructure capable of delivering consistent operations at scale while keeping pace with evolving regulatory and security demands. To meet this need, the bank has shifted its infrastructure delivery model to a fully integrated, software-defined private cloud environment built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). The platform embeds zero-trust security directly into the infrastructure layer, ensuring continuous availability while shrinking infrastructure deployment timelines from weeks to just one day.
Standard Chartered has already migrated 70% of its global infrastructure footprint to this new architecture, demonstrating that a unified private cloud model can succeed at global scale. The move sets the stage for the bank’s next phase of secure, resilient and compliant banking innovation.
John Sharratt, Global Head of Technology and Infrastructure at Standard Chartered, said standardizing a fully virtualized, software-defined infrastructure across the bank’s global operations allows it to meet evolving client demands while reinforcing its technological core with the responsiveness, resilience and regulatory compliance that global banking requires. He added that the bank’s long-term, client-centric partnerships with global service providers like Broadcom strengthen its ability to deliver always-on banking services amid a fast-changing landscape, while accelerating innovation through a secure private cloud foundation.
Krish Prasad, senior vice president and general manager of the VMware Cloud Foundation Division at Broadcom, noted that global financial institutions need infrastructure combining resilience, security and operational simplicity at scale. He said Standard Chartered is at the forefront of digital banking innovation, and Broadcom is proud to support the bank’s journey toward a highly automated, AI-driven, modern private cloud built on VMware Cloud Foundation.
By modernizing the infrastructure underpinning its core banking, payments and digital services, Standard Chartered has strengthened its future-ready technology platform for sustainable growth and client-focused innovation, anchored on a secure and resilient private cloud foundation.
