Broadcom announced AI-ready data foundations for the VMware Tanzu Platform at VMware Explore to help enterprises securely scale AI agents from pilot stages to full production. The update solves key security and data risks by introducing hardened sandboxes, governed access, and built-in compliance controls inside private cloud environments.

SINGAPORE, 1 SEPTEMBER 2026 – At VMware Explore, Broadcom Inc. announced new AI-ready data foundations for the VMware Tanzu Platform, serving as the official agent platform for VMware Private AI Cloud. The update provides an end-to-end framework designed to help enterprises safely transition autonomous AI agents from experimental pilots into production-ready deployments within secure private cloud boundaries.

As organizations move toward agentic AI, business leaders face unique security and operational hurdles. Autonomous AI agents query data independently, introducing risks such as data leakage, unexpected cloud egress fees, and inaccurate outputs caused by uncurated sources. The latest VMware Tanzu Platform release targets these concerns by enforcing strict security around both the agents and the data they consume.

Key capabilities introduced in the VMware Tanzu Platform include:

Hardened Agent Sandboxes: Enforces a deny-by-default security containment model that isolates credentials to prevent prompt injection attacks and unauthorized network access.

AI-Ready Data Foundations: Processes structured and unstructured data on-site to deliver high-precision context, improving model accuracy while reducing hallucinations and token costs.

Out-of-the-Box Developer Harness: Speeds up development with pre-approved skills, step-by-step buildpacks, human-in-the-loop controls, and integrated memory services.

Curated Marketplace: Features a centralized catalog where developers and agents can safely discover and connect to vetted models, tools, and data products.

Auditable Agent Governance: Integrates an AI gateway to monitor, rate-limit, and log every agent action for strict auditability and compliance.

By pairing governed agents with curated data and auditable oversight inside private infrastructure, Broadcom enables enterprises to scale AI automation without sacrificing control over sensitive operations. The newly announced capabilities are scheduled to become generally available in the VMware Tanzu Platform in Fall 2026.
