MALAYSIA: Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat, the managing director of Bank Islam was awarded as Trailblazer of the Year 2013 in Banking and Payments Asia Trailblazer Awards 2013, which is organized by Banking & Payments Asia (BPA), the Asia’s leading journal for retail banking and payments.
According to Thomas Zink, editor of BPA said that Zukri Samat is an outstanding personality leading his bank with vision, skill and values. Zink added that under Zukri Samat helm, Bank Islam returned from the brink of financial collapse to become one of Malaysia’s leading Islamic banks, driving the country’s development to Asia’s Islamic banking hub.
