Wed, Jun 26, 2013: Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd recently has launched its first low-cost mobile point-of-sales (mPOS) at Siti Khadijah Market, Kelantan and made the market becomes the first traditional wet market to embark with payment terminal, the Sun Daily reported. With mPOS, Kelantan people can shop in the wet market without carrying cash.
To promote cashless transactions, Bank Islam will issue more Visa debit cards for customers in Kelantan. Currently, the bank has issued 300,000 Visa debit cards in the state and it expects to reach 450,000 by end of this year.
According to Bank Islam, mPOS system will be implemented in Johor Bharu and another two main cities in Peninsular Malaysia in near future.
