Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd (Bank Islam) launched the first debit card designed and developed for the universities’ staffs and students in the nation with Universiti Malaysian Kelantan (UMK). The card namely university debit card-i or UniDebit is a combination of the functions of student/staff card, library card, ATM (auto teller machine) card and Visa debit card.
According to the Bank Islam’s Managing Director Datuk Seri Zukri Samat, this initiative is to encourage students but not limited to in UMK, to adopt cashless transactions. They have approached other universities and some of them accepted the proposal to promote UniDebit in the universities, he added.
