Tarad.com eyeing 4,000 – 5,000 shops with Bt1 million revenue by 2017

Tarad.com, Thailand’s largest e-commerce platform expected to create 4,000 to 5,000 shops in Tarad.com’s premium mall with THB1 million (RM99,450) in sales revenue by 2017, its managing director Pawoot Pongvitayapanu said. According to Pawoot, currently they have more than 200,000 online merchants selling over 3 million products and 1,400 online merchants at its premium mall selling 300,000 item. They manage to attract 2 million buyers make purchases per month on average and have more than 10 shops at Tarad.com’s premium mall earning sales revenue more than THB1 million, he added.

Pawoot shared that Thailand e-commerce market was growing at 20 – 30 per cent per year and expected to grow at 50 per cent this year. However, majority of the e-commerce transactions in Thailand paid via bank transfer.

He also said that 30 per cent and 40 per cent of total traffic at Tarad.com come from mobile devices and tablet respectively and thus Tarad.com will focus on mobile and social commerce in the next couple years. Pawoot emphasized those sales conversion is very important in e-commerce and is not just about the web traffic.
