Muslim Consumers Must Careful When Buying Leather Goods and Tableware Online

Aug 20, 2013 (Tue): In an interview with Bernama, Chief activist of the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) Datuk Nadzim Johan urged Muslim consumers must careful when buying leather goods and tableware online due to the items may contain haram (prohibited) elements, such as leather goods made of pig skin and tableware contain cattle bones if cattle are not slaughtered in accordance with Islamic rituals.

He added that online shopping can be deceptive because the graphics are unclear.

He also advised Muslim consumers should buy goods from valid sources by asking the sellers to show certificates as proof that their goods are halal.
