KUALA LUMPUR, 7 July 2023 – The Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (Mranti) and Leave a Nest have joined forces through the Global Market Fit Programme (GMP) Japan to provide assistance to high-growth startups aiming to establish a business presence in Japan. The GMP, previously organized by Mranti since 2020, presents an opportunity for ambitious startups to expand globally, with Osaka and Tokyo as the chosen destinations.

Dzuleira Abu Bakar, Chief Executive Officer of Mranti, highlighted the successful value creation of RM5.4 million for 18 companies through the GMP in 2022. This year, Mranti is excited to support 25 new innovative companies as they embark on their next phase of growth.

The GMP is specifically targeting companies that prioritize research and development solutions and have intellectual property registered in Malaysia or are majority Malaysian-owned. Startups from various sectors, including manufacturing, robotics/drones, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, agri-tech, biotech, healthcare, med-tech, food-tech, care-tech, marine-tech, and ecotech, are encouraged to apply.

Over a period of two to three months, from August to November, participants will engage in a comprehensive series of physical and virtual workshops, match-making meetings, and mentorship sessions. The program will guide participants in localizing and validating their business models, developing market entry strategies, and preparing their products and solutions for needs analysis and value creation frameworks.

Interested startups can apply for the GMP and seize the opportunity to expand their business presence in Japan, leveraging the support and expertise offered by Mranti and Leave a Nest.
