March 31, 2014 (Mon): Gartner, Inc. projected that worldwide combined shipments of devices (PCs, tablets, ultramobiles and mobile phones) will reach 2.5 billion units in 2014, a 6.9 percent increase from 2013. Mobile phones still be the largest segment of the overall device market and are expected to reach 1.9 billion units this year with a growth rate 4.9 percent, followed by traditional PCs (276.7 million), tablets / ultramobile (270.7 million) and other ultramobiles (37.2 million).
