The global information technology research and advisory company Gartner Inc. (Gartner) predicted that one-third of consumer brands will integrate payment into their branded mobile apps by 2015, allowing them to sell directly via mobile app and enhance the customer experience.
According to Gartner, most of the consumer brands’ branded mobile apps launched focus on marketing activities such as offering product information, checking loyalty points, and collecting coupons and offers.
Besides, Gartner’s “Predicts 2013: Business Will Take Consumer Apps to the Next Level” report also predicted that by 2016, more than half of consumers will use digital cloud services as their primary form of storage for digital content, “pay-TV as an app” on smart TVs will be launched and wearable smart electronics will be a US$10 billion industry.
