With the injection of a new funding, the company aims to advance its plans for the second half of the year by expanding its services to East Malaysia as well as enhancing its business operations in Peninsular Malaysia, which currently has a network of over 600 restaurants. foodpanda Malaysia is also strengthening its presence in the Klang Valley with the expansion of its delivery service to more locations such as Ara Damansara, Setiawangsa, Cheras and also extended locations within Shah Alam such as Setia Alam.

As part of its expansion plans, the company will also be hiring more call centre agents and delivery riders to further improve customers’ experience. Other plans in the pipeline include the implementation of a corporate ordering system to create an unparalleled customer experience for corporate orders. foodpanda will also continue to upgrade its website and mobile application from time to time for a more seamless user navigation and also in keeping up with technology advancement.

According to Claudio Abitante, Managing Director of foodpanda Malaysia, the expansion of its operations to East Malaysia is expected to boost the growth of foodpanda in Malaysia by 20 per cent.

“We have been aggressively growing our business for the past two years. With fresh funding, we are able to keep the momentum going. In no time, we will be in all major cities around East Malaysia. Apart from strengthening our human resource infrastructure, we are also aggressively marketing our services to the retailers and food outlets in East Malaysia,” said Abitante.

Apart from delivery of food and drinks, foodpanda Malaysia plans to expand its delivery service to cover delivery of other non-food items such as top tier grocery products and pharmacy products. So far, 7Eleven is the only non-food retailer that foodpanda Malaysia delivers for.
