Feb 25, 2014 (Tue): Cyber-bullying cases reported to the Cyber999 Help Centre increased 55.6 percent, from 250 in 2012 to 389 in 2013, Bernama reports. According to the Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, one of the key factors of the increase in cyber-bullying was the preponderance of Internet users sharing personal information, including passwords, on social networking sites.
For public to explore cyber-bullying in the country and ways to address it, CyberSecurity Malaysia has published a 19-page Cyber Security Handbook: Cyber-bullying handbook based on a study carried out on 9,651 primary and secondary school students nationwide with the collaboration with the Education Ministry and DiGi Telecommunication Sdn Bhd.
