CIMB Bank launches first banking services on Facebook

CIMB Bank has launched OctoPay, an application run on Facebook acts as an extension of its internet banking services or CIMB Clicks for basis transactions, becoming the first Asean bank offers banking services over social media networking.

Group deputy CEO and head of consumer banking Renzo Viegas said that they hope OctoPay can educate the public on how easy and secure it is to conduct banking transactions via social media as well as collectively encourage savings behaviour among the public. He emphasized that any transaction done using OctoPay is secure and Facebook has no access to the user banking information.

OctoPay allows 3.6 million of CIMB Clicks registered users to conduct three main banking transactions such as top up prepaid phone credit, transfer money between OctoPay friends and users and utilizing Coinbox, a feature that allow you to pool money with your OctoPay friends for any occasion (travelling or partying) but with transaction limit of RM500 per day.
