An African online scammer gets jail for 1 year
A 34-year old Nigerian student will enter jail for 12 months and to be caned twice after he pleaded guilty for criminal of online banking scam over a Chinese women, Chua Bee Hwa for RM7,500.
According to report by The Star, Okoh Victor who was charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code by magistrate’s court in Penang, claimed to be from the Customs Department contacted the victim last year to request payment for the release of victim’s friend.
After the payment had been made to a Maybank account, Chua did not receive any news from Okoh later. The investigation showed the account belongs to Sadzilawati Sardoon who claimed her boyfriend Okoh cheated her using bank account for business transactions.
