Google has released its 12th annual Year-End Zeitgeist, an in-depth look at the “spirit of the times” as seen through the billions of searches on Google over the past year. Zeitgeist 2012 has published total of 838 lists from 55 countries. According to the senior vice president of Google, Amit Singhal’s blog post, Google has added new features in 2012 Zeitgeist website such as an interactive map showing where and when some of the hottest terms spiked around the world and Android app.
According to Zeitgeist 2012 report, the superstar Whitney Houston who dead on 11 February 2012 topped Zeitgeist’s overall trending list followed by Korean singer PSY’s “Gangnam Style” and Hurricane Sandy. In Malaysia, most people search “SAPS” (Sistem Analisis Peperiksaan Sekolah) followed by “Gangnam Style”, “9GAG” (An image-based social media website which centres around user-uploaded, comical images dubbed “Fun”), “Proton Preve” and “Zalora”.
