Taylor’s College Launches Industry-Driven Diploma in Digital Design to Power Malaysia’s Digital Future

Taylor’s College has introduced the Diploma in Digital Design (DIDD), a future-ready programme designed to nurture Malaysia’s next wave of digital talent. With state-of-the-art facilities and strong industry partnerships, the programme promises hands-on experience and high employability.

MALAYSIA, 9 APRIL 2025 – Taylor’s College has officially launched its Diploma in Digital Design (DIDD), a cutting-edge programme crafted to address Malaysia’s digital talent needs amid the nation’s fast-paced technological transformation.

The new diploma combines a strong academic foundation with practical, industry-relevant training, preparing students for careers in the ever-evolving digital and creative sectors. Anchored in real-world experience, students will gain access to high-tech facilities including the VORTEX XR Lab and 3D Modelling Studio at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus.

Through these advanced platforms, learners will explore extended reality (XR), create immersive virtual environments on a 1:1 scale, and integrate physical elements into digital experiences. The initiative supports Malaysia’s Digital Economy Blueprint, aiming to cultivate a new generation of agile and digitally skilled professionals.

Josephine Tan, Campus Director of Taylor’s College, emphasized the programme’s relevance:

“We are excited to offer the Diploma in Digital Design programme that addresses critical skill gaps in Malaysia’s growing digital and creative industries. Our forward-thinking curriculum and hands-on learning approach are designed to produce graduates who are not only industry-ready but are also capable of making meaningful contributions to Malaysia’s development as a global digital hub.”

A standout feature of the programme is its Work-Based Learning (WBL) component — a 20-week module where students work directly on industry projects, guided by professionals and academic mentors. Collaborations with top-tier companies like CraveFX, FusionWorks, iTrainKids, Geek Fam, Cause Effect Consultants, and Virtualtech Frontier give students early exposure to real-world creative challenges.

Ts Dr Wong Chee Kong, Head of School of Diploma and Professional Studies, added:

“WBL offers our students a significant advantage by bridging the gap between academia and industry. This mode of learning provides continuous mentorship from industry experts, enhancing students’ learning experiences and significantly boosting their employability upon graduation.”

The launch also featured an experiential session led by Programme Director Hijjaz Hamidi Abdul Aziz, offering a glimpse into the programme’s immersive learning methodology. With over a decade of experience in both industry and academia, Hijjaz brings a wealth of insight into the evolving landscape of digital design education.

Graduates of the DIDD programme may further their education at Taylor’s University, progressing into the Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media or entering Year 2 of the Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design (Honours).

Reinforcing the value of Taylor’s approach, the college boasts a 100% graduate employability rate from 2021 to 2023, as verified by Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) — a testament to its focus on producing career-ready, innovative professionals.
