Singapore DPM Gan Kim Yong Named Honorary Co-Chair of Bloomberg New Economy Advisory Board

Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong has been appointed Honorary Co-Chair of the Bloomberg New Economy Advisory Board, ahead of the New Economy Forum returning to Singapore for its fifth year in November 2025. His appointment underscores Singapore’s central role in shaping global economic resilience amid increasing geopolitical and economic uncertainty.


SINGAPORE, 7 AUGUST 2025 – Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong, has been appointed Honorary Co-Chair of the Bloomberg New Economy Advisory Board. He will serve alongside U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.

The expanded advisory board will also welcome new members including Merit Janow, Professor of Practice and former Dean at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs; Takeshi Niinami, CEO of Suntory Holdings; and Eyal Ofer, Chairman of Ofer Global.

Gan brings deep experience from both government and business sectors, with a strong track record in trade, economic policy, and finance. His expertise will be instrumental as Bloomberg prepares for the fifth edition of its flagship New Economy Forum, scheduled to take place in Singapore from November 19 to 21, 2025.

The theme of the 2025 Forum is “Thriving in an Age of Extremes,” reflecting the global need to address unprecedented economic, geopolitical, and technological challenges. The agenda will cover key pillars such as technological disruption, supply chain reorientation, geopolitical realignment, energy transition, financial dynamism, climate risk, and breakthrough medical innovations.

The event aims to bring together high-level decision-makers from both public and private sectors to collaborate on forward-looking strategies that foster global resilience and inclusive growth.
