The leading provider of travel solutions and service Abacus International has formed a partnership with the world leading online payment provider PayPal, in enabling PayPal as a payment option in Abacus’s ready-to-go online booking engines – Abacus WebStart and Abacus WebConnect. This partnership will benefit more than 20,000 travel agencies across Asia-Pacific to have an online presence and transaction capability in one easy step.
Maple Travel, a Singapore travel agency was the first to use Abacus WebStart with PayPal to allow travellers to book TransAsia Airways flight tickets at Facebook.
According to PhoCusWright’s Asia-Pacific Online Travel Fifth Edition, the online travel market in the Asia Pacific is projected to see double-digit growth through 2012, remaining the fastest-growing travel region globally through 2013, when it is expected to reach US$357 billion. Besides, the recent PayPal Online and Mobile Shopping Insights study revealed that travel was the number one category for online purchases accounting for S$263 million in Singapore.
