OpenSys Technologies introduces PalmWav™, an innovative palm-recognition payment system that allows users to make seamless, device-free payments. The system, which integrates with Malaysia’s existing payment infrastructure, offers enhanced security and convenience for both consumers and merchants.
MALAYSIA, 2 DECEMBER 2025 – OpenSys Technologies Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of OpenSys (M) Bhd, has launched PalmWav™, a groundbreaking palm-recognition payment system that aims to revolutionize the digital payment landscape in Malaysia. This innovation allows consumers to make payments simply by waving their hand, without the need for any devices such as smartphones, cards, or wallets. The system is fully interoperable with Malaysia’s existing payment infrastructure, including PayNet’s MyDebit network.
The debut of PalmWav™ marks an exciting step in OpenSys Technologies’ journey to explore next-generation technologies in the digital payments space. The internal showcase allowed OpenSys employees and key partners to experience the PalmWav™ technology firsthand, ahead of its public launch. Pilot locations in Kuala Lumpur’s Kom.Fi Café and Petaling Jaya’s Bread Maison were selected for live demonstrations, showcasing the convenience and reliability of the technology in real-world settings.
Developed in collaboration with Tencent Cloud’s AI innovation, PalmWav™ uses palm recognition to create a unique, encrypted “palm signature” for each user. This biometric authentication process occurs in seconds, ensuring high levels of privacy and security while delivering a fast, seamless payment experience.
Enrolment for PalmWav™ is simple, requiring users to sign up via the mobile app and complete a one-time registration at participating merchant outlets. Once enrolled, users can make payments by scanning their palm above the PalmWav™ reader, eliminating the need for physical devices.

- Device-Free: No need for smartphones, cards, or wallets; payment is always at hand.
- Privacy First: All palm templates are encrypted for enhanced security.
