Smart e-motorcycle startup OMOWAY is fast-tracking its localization efforts in Indonesia, following its June 20 debut, with plans for local production, supply chain partnerships, and a nationwide sales network. The company aims to redefine urban mobility with smart technology tailored to Indonesia’s unique road conditions and sustainability goals.
INDONESIA, 29 JULY 2025 – OMOWAY, a next-generation smart e-motorcycle startup founded by former XPENG Motors executives, is rapidly advancing its strategy to localize operations in Indonesia. Following its global debut on June 20, the company has declared Indonesia not just as a target market but as its global launchpad for sustainable urban mobility.
OMOWAY is investing heavily in building a fully localized ecosystem—from manufacturing and supply chains to user experience and technical support. The company’s efforts are centered on understanding and addressing the real-world challenges Indonesian riders face daily.
“Indonesia is not just a market for us; it’s our global launchpad and a steadfast anchor for shaping the future of mobility,” said Yulong Chen, General Manager of OMOWAY Indonesia. He added that initial conversations with Indonesian dealer groups have been productive, laying the groundwork for a nationwide sales and service network by the time the first mass-produced model launches in 2026.
To further embed itself in the local landscape, OMOWAY is pursuing local production and assembly initiatives that will generate jobs, transfer skills, and support the national economy. Partnerships with Indonesian suppliers are also underway to develop a stable, localized supply chain.
The company’s OMO X prototype, featuring the HALO full-domain smart architecture and autonomous driving functions, has already made waves globally. Now, OMOWAY’s technical team is focused on adapting its features to Indonesia’s traffic and climate conditions. The HALO Pilot system includes advanced features such as self-balancing, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), one-touch parking, and vehicle summon — all optimized for low-speed traffic and frequent rain in cities like Jakarta.
A standout innovation is the Collision Assist Braking (CAB) system, which adds an extra layer of active safety, aiming to significantly reduce the risk of accidents for riders.
OMOWAY’s long-term commitment to Indonesia includes cultivating local talent across various departments, including engineering, technical operations, and quality control. The company has launched targeted training programs to position its Indonesian team at the forefront of the global smart mobility movement.
Founder Todd He emphasized OMOWAY’s larger mission: “By accelerating Indonesia’s transition from traditional fuel-powered motorcycles to smart electric models, we aim to contribute to a cleaner and more eco-friendly environment.” OMOWAY also plans to expand its social responsibility programs to promote safer and more responsible riding habits throughout the country.
As OMOWAY continues to develop its innovative e-motorcycles and strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia, it positions itself as a key player in both the electric vehicle industry and the regional sustainability movement.
