Nintendo has raised its full-year Switch sales forecast to 15.5 million units, citing robust year-end sales. Amid expectations for new hardware releases, Nintendo aims to sustain the momentum of its Switch business following record-breaking financial performance and continued success with popular game titles.

7 February 2024 – Nintendo has revised its full-year Switch sales forecast to 15.5 million units, up from 15 million units previously, following strong year-end sales for the aging console. The company’s President, Shuntaro Furukawa, expressed the desire to sustain the Switch’s momentum, hinting at potential new hardware releases to maintain market relevance.

Despite a slight decline in Switch unit sales over the first nine months of the financial year, Nintendo continues to extend the console’s lifecycle with popular titles like “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” and “Super Mario Bros. Wonder,” which have collectively sold millions of units. The success of the Switch, including its Lite and OLED versions, has propelled Nintendo to report record net profits, reinforcing anticipation for future hardware innovations. – ref: Reuters
