July 26, 2013 (Fri): According to the financial results for the second quarter, which ended June 30, 2013, Facebook Inc. recorded total revenue of US$1.81 billion (RM5.81 billion), an increase of 53%, compared with US$1.18 billion (RM3.79 billion) in the second quarter of 2012. The revenue from advertising was US$1.6 billion (RM5.13 billion), representing 88 per cent of total revenue and a 61 per cent increase from the same quarter last year. The 41 per cent of the advertising revenue was contributed by mobile advertising.
The report also shared the following operational highlights of Q2 2013:
- Daily active users (DAUs) were 699 million on average for June 2013, an increase of 27 per cent year-over-year.
- Monthly active users (MAUs) were 1.15 billion as of June 30, 2013, an increase of 21 per cent year-over-year.
- Mobile MAUs were 819 million as of June 30, 2013, an increase of 51 per cent year-over-year. Mobile DAUs were 469 million on average for June 2013.
