MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 9500s and 8500 chipsets to boost performance, AI processing, and energy efficiency in flagship and premium smartphones. The new platforms support advanced imaging, gaming, and 5G connectivity to meet growing demand for AI-driven mobile experiences.
MALAYSIA, 20 JANUARY 2026 – MediaTek has unveiled two new additions to its Dimensity smartphone platform, the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, reinforcing the company’s push to deliver higher performance, stronger AI capabilities, and improved energy efficiency across flagship and premium devices.
According to MediaTek, the new chipsets are designed to meet rising consumer expectations for advanced imaging, immersive gaming, and next-generation connectivity. JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President and General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit, said the company remains focused on expanding access to cutting-edge technologies while maintaining a balance between performance and power efficiency.
Built on a 3nm process, the Dimensity 9500s features an All Big Core CPU architecture with an octa-core design led by a Cortex-X925 ultra core clocked up to 3.73GHz. The platform integrates the Immortalis-G925 GPU, enabling full-frame mobile gaming and advanced ray tracing support. It also incorporates MediaTek’s latest AI processing unit, optimized for generative and multimodal models, enhancing on-device content creation, photography, and intelligent productivity features.
The chipset is further strengthened by MediaTek Imagiq imaging technology, supporting 8K Dolby Vision HDR video recording, real-time motion tracking, and advanced noise reduction. On the connectivity front, the Dimensity 9500s includes a 5G Release-17 modem with support for up to 7Gbps downlink, AI-assisted network optimization, extended Wi-Fi range, and long-distance Bluetooth device-to-device connections.
Targeting the premium segment, the Dimensity 8500 is manufactured using a 4nm process and employs an All Big Core CPU architecture with eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked up to 3.4GHz. It supports high-speed LPDDR5X memory and improved task scheduling to deliver smoother multitasking and better power efficiency.
Paired with a Mali-G720 GPU, the Dimensity 8500 delivers significant gains in graphics performance and energy savings over its predecessor, while bringing ray tracing to mainstream mobile gaming. The platform also integrates MediaTek’s 8th-generation NPU, enabling support for large language models, image generation, and intelligent image enhancement through its AI semantic engine.
With these launches, MediaTek aims to strengthen its position in the global smartphone chipset market and accelerate the adoption of AI-powered mobile experiences.
