MDEC’s DEX CONNEX Thailand 2025 Unlocks RM200 Million in Digital Export

MDEC and MRANTI concluded DEX CONNEX Thailand 2025 with the signing of 10 MoUs between Malaysian and Thai tech firms, paving the way for over RM200 million in potential digital exports. The initiative reinforces Malaysia’s leadership in regional digital collaboration and innovation.

MALAYSIA, 6 AUGUST 2025 – Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), in partnership with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI), successfully concluded its flagship Digital Exports (DEX) CONNEX Thailand 2025 initiative with the signing of 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Malaysian tech companies and Thai partners. These agreements are expected to generate over RM200 million in potential digital export opportunities for participating Malaysian firms.

Held in conjunction with the Techsauce Global Summit 2025, the initiative supported 52 Malaysian tech companies in expanding their international footprint and establishing meaningful connections across the ASEAN region. The programme is part of MDEC’s broader strategy to drive cross-border digital cooperation and innovation.

A highlight of the event was the renewal of MDEC’s Memorandum of Understanding with Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), originally signed in 2023 and witnessed by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This renewed partnership reinforces the shared goal of both nations to strengthen digital economy development through joint initiatives, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.

In addition to the renewed government-level agreement, multiple MoUs were signed between private sector companies, laying the groundwork for collaboration in areas such as technology transfer, market access, and joint ventures. These partnerships aim to unlock new growth opportunities, boost competitiveness, and foster innovation across both economies.

DEX CONNEX Thailand 2025 was made possible through the support of numerous strategic partners, including the Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand, MATRADE Thailand, MITI, MRANTI, depa Thailand, True Digital Park, Techsauce, the Malaysia-Thai Chamber of Commerce (MTCC), GEN Thailand, and the Diplomatic Council. These partnerships offered Malaysian tech firms a robust platform to explore new markets and business channels.

Looking ahead, MDEC will host the inaugural Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025 (SCEKL 2025) in September. Themed “AI Cities: Shaping Our Digital Future,” the event will highlight Malaysia’s role in delivering smart, sustainable, and inclusive digital solutions. Programmes like DEX CONNEX are expected to continue driving Malaysia’s ambition to position itself as a leading digital economy hub in ASEAN.
