Matrade Launches eBizLink to Propel Malaysian MSMEs into Global Markets Through Digital Innovation

Matrade launches the eBizLink program to encourage Malaysian MSMEs to explore international opportunities through innovative technologies and digitalization. The program, running until 2025, aligns with the government’s goal of achieving a 15% contribution to exports from Malaysia’s MSMEs. Matrade aims to lead global campaigns, leveraging digital channels and collaborating with international partners, while also coordinating skill enhancement programs domestically with key partners like DHL Express, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and PGMall.

31 January 2024 – The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) has introduced the Cross Border e-Commerce Development Programme, known as eBizLink, to encourage micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to explore international opportunities. This initiative serves as a platform to empower local MSMEs to embrace innovative technologies, digitalization, and strategic partnerships to navigate evolving market trends.

The eBizLink program, designed to run until 2025, aligns with the government’s ambition outlined in the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan, targeting a 15% contribution to exports from Malaysia’s MSMEs. Deputy CEO Abu Bakar Yusof expressed confidence in the transformative power of prioritizing digital trade, including a strong emphasis on digital marketing and e-commerce solutions, to elevate Malaysian MSMEs, making them resilient and future-proof.

Matrade, in collaboration with an extensive network of international industry partners, aims to spearhead a series of campaigns and promotional activities globally, utilizing cutting-edge digital channels for maximum impact. The initiative falls in line with the Madani Economy Framework, the National Trade Blueprint, and the recently unveiled New Industrial Master Plan 2030, all of which prioritize digitalization as a crucial force propelling economic development and resilience.

The eBizLink program will execute 13 digital campaigns and marketing initiatives across various global markets, including ASEAN, China, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Chile, and the United Arab Emirates. Leveraging networks of established international partners and industry experts, these activities aim to create a more optimistic global outlook and enhance inclusivity among local entrepreneurs.

Concurrently, Matrade is set to collaborate with key partners such as DHL Express, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and PGMall domestically. This collaboration will focus on coordinating capacity-building and skill enhancement programs, specifically tailored for cross-border digital trade, contributing to the overall growth and competitiveness of Malaysian businesses. – ref: The Sun
