MALAYSIA: In the country there is no effective way for consumers to verify the online business and this resulted some consumers being cheated when shopping online, according to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that the ministry had worked closely with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia to propose new amendment required for the Electronic Commerce Act 2006, to prevent the consumers being scammed online. The proposal will be tabled in the coming Parliament session.
