The initiative, backed by RM1.5 billion in funding, aims to future-proof businesses and strengthen Malaysia’s digital economy.
MALAYSIA, 30 March 2025 – The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)’s Business Digitalisation Initiative (BDI) has garnered strong support from industry leaders, who hail it as a game-changer in propelling micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) toward digital transformation. With an allocated funding pool of RM1.5 billion, the initiative is set to provide crucial resources, financial access, and expert guidance to empower businesses in Malaysia’s evolving digital economy.

Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, praised the initiative as a proactive step by the Madani Government, aimed at enhancing MSME productivity and operational efficiency through innovative technology solutions. “This initiative is a business-centric digitalisation drive that will empower MSMEs with the right tools to remain competitive in the digital era,” he said.
A key feature of the BDI is the introduction of affordable and freemium e-invoicing tools based on the Peppol framework. These tools, supported by 21 MDEC-accredited service providers, streamline financial processes, improve regulatory compliance, and enhance efficiency for MSMEs.
MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil emphasized the initiative’s commitment to addressing business pain points, ensuring that MSMEs receive targeted support, strategic partnerships, and financing options to aid their digitalisation journey. “The BDI is about ‘uplifting’ MSMEs by strengthening resilience, boosting competitiveness, and future-proofing their growth,” he said.
