Malaysia strengthens its leadership in ASEAN’s digital landscape through the MDX Summit and SmartGov Malaysia 2025, focusing on innovation, AI, and citizen-centric digital transformation. Both events aim to spark inclusive growth, international collaboration, and next-gen public service delivery.

MALAYSIA, 17 JULY 2025 – Malaysia is taking bold strides toward becoming an inclusive, sustainable, and fully digital smart nation through two flagship events: the MDX Summit and SmartGov Malaysia 2025. Anchored in the Madani Government’s vision, both gatherings reinforce the country’s commitment to innovation, responsible AI, and citizen-focused digital services.

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), spearheading the MDX Summit, aims to position the country as a digital leader within ASEAN. “Technologies utilising digital assets and agents will accelerate outcomes in talent development, innovation, and smarter public services,” said MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil. He added that the summit will act as a catalyst for inclusive growth and investment across sectors.

The MDX Summit will focus on five strategic pillars: Next-Gen Data, Computing, Trust, Creativity, and Talent, showcasing how cutting-edge technologies are already creating real-world impact for businesses, government entities, and citizens. Key international speakers include Dr. Keyu Jin, economist and author of The New China Playbook, and Gerard Grech, former founding CEO of Tech Nation UK and Managing Director at Founders by the University of Cambridge.

In parallel, SmartGov Malaysia 2025, themed “GovTech for the Future – Innovating Public Service Delivery”, will highlight Malaysia’s commitment to future-ready governance. Ts. Nik Zalbiha binti Nik Mat, Director General of JDN, emphasized the government’s drive to build an innovation-first ecosystem that balances data sovereignty and inclusivity. “AI-powered citizen chatbots, cybersecurity partnerships, and smarter public services will reflect this vision in action,” she said.

SmartGov Malaysia 2025 focuses on three foundational pillars:

  • Artificial Intelligence for citizen-centric solutions
  • Big Data to foster transparency and trust
  • Cloud Computing to deliver agile and resilient services

One of the event’s key highlights is a keynote by Kamales Lardi, CEO of Lardi & Partner Consulting GmbH and best-selling author of The Human Side of Digital Business Transformation, who will share insights on the human-centric nature of digital evolution.

Both events will feature interactive showcases, strategic roundtables, and high-level networking opportunities across the public and private sectors. By hosting all exhibitions and sessions within a unified venue, Malaysia is setting the stage for deeper collaboration, innovation, and long-term partnerships beyond the summit itself.
