Keeper Security’s latest global survey reveals that organizations adopting Privileged Access Management (PAM) report significantly improved cybersecurity outcomes, yet many still face implementation challenges. As hybrid environments dominate, zero-trust PAM solutions are proving essential to safeguard credentials and critical systems.
SINGAPORE, 28 JULY 2025 – Keeper Security, a leading provider of zero-trust and zero-knowledge cybersecurity solutions, has released its latest Insight Report titled “Securing Privileged Access: The Key to Modern Enterprise Defense.” The report is based on a global survey of 4,000 IT and security leaders across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
With the growing complexity of enterprise networks—spanning cloud, hybrid, and multi-vendor environments—the importance of securing privileged access has never been greater. Privileged Access Management (PAM) plays a vital role in safeguarding sensitive credentials, endpoints, secrets, and remote connections, particularly as cyber attacks become more sophisticated and AI-driven.
The report identifies key motivations for PAM adoption, the most common implementation challenges, and the critical features organizations seek to protect access across modern infrastructures.
Among organizations that implemented PAM, 53% reported improved protection of sensitive data. Credential theft remains one of the top causes of data breaches, reinforcing PAM’s value as a frontline defense. Furthermore, 49% of global respondents and 53% of U.S. respondents noted a reduction in security incidents related to privilege misuse.
However, challenges to adoption persist. The report highlights that 44% of respondents cited deployment complexity as a major barrier, while others pointed to cultural and awareness gaps within their organizations. These issues signal a need for PAM solutions that are not only robust but also intuitive and easy to implement.
The shift to modern infrastructure is undeniable. The report found that 94% of organizations now operate in hybrid or cloud-first environments, rendering traditional on-premise access controls insufficient. Organizations must embrace adaptable PAM platforms that align with this evolution.
Human behavior continues to be a security risk. Among non-PAM users, 8% still store credentials in spreadsheets, and 13% audit privileged access only once a year or less, leaving gaps in access oversight. The report emphasizes the importance of combining effective technology with continuous user education and behavioral insight to build a truly secure environment.
Fully implemented PAM delivers measurable improvements in cybersecurity posture, including enhanced data protection, fewer cyber incidents, and improved regulatory compliance. Keeper’s own solution, KeeperPAM, is tailored for today’s distributed workforces and provides secure credential storage, zero-trust network access, real-time monitoring, and seamless integration with modern infrastructure.
As identity-driven threats continue to escalate, controlling privileged access is essential to protecting critical systems and data in any organization.
